When you grow up in a small town and you live on a farm, you learn to love books.
My dad was a big mystery
buff. Agatha Christie,
John D. MacDonald and P.D. James wrote my
bedtime stories. While other little girls were dreaming of
princesses and princes, I dreamed about Miss Jane Marple and Ellery
Queen.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
I'm one of three kids. My father was a farmer, but my
mother was a school teacher. All three of us were
writing little mystery stories for my mother since we
were eight or so. This was our "schoolwork" during the
summers. We always wrote a new story for my dad. It
taught us not only how to write, but how to collaborate
to accomplish a task. I'm the only one that went on to
write as a profession, but I still call my brothers when
I get stuck on a project. It's a lot of fun to work with
them.
I currently write between the minutes not spent with my little ones.
I have a boy and a girl who, of course, love a good mystery. They
are my biggest fans and my best critics.
There's not much else to say here. Now that the blog is up and
running, I'm sure I'll be sharing more of what's going on in my
life. Be sure to check the book page for past and current projects.
As always, I appreciate you more than I can ever say.
